Let them be little
Being a mama is hard, and especially hard when we want to capture all the sweet moments with our little family. Being a new mom myself, I have learned the moments I think I want, usually aren't the moments captured anymore. I think this is where my love of candid photography came into play. I started to slowly see the sweetest most rare moments that I’ll never get back or be able to repeat, were ones I wasn’t planning. The ones I’m not stressing about, or creating anxiety over. The real magic, I started to see was found in the goofy, slobbery and messy parts of our life. Through the giggles, the moments they loosen their grip and run fearlessly away from us…
This session was particularly sweet to me, little man kept stopping the show to admire the grass and weeds. (Which ended up being the best shots of all!) He would turn way from the camera to gaze into the sky and follow the airplanes. This is where the moments we think we want, disappear. The moments our little ones turn their cheek and show us, this is where we should be looking…
Being a mama has taught me a hell of a lot! But the biggest lesson? Life is happening in between our perfect, planned out moments. When we feel everything is a mess, that is just when we know we are creating something special. Lean into the chaos, let the mess happen ya’ll! This is the freaking good part…
I like to call this one… let them be little…
